Amelia is a barrister specialising in extradition, human rights and children law and is ranked in Chambers and Partners as a leader in the field of Extradition. She is currently independent public inquiry to examine the Covid-19 pandemic in the UK and previously worked as counsel to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.In the field of extradition, Amelia has extensive experience of advising and representing requested persons and requesting judicial authorities in extradition proceedings at first instance and in appeals in the High Court and Supreme Court as well as applications to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and challenging INTERPOL Red Notices. She has particular experience in cases involving the separation parents from children, child abduction and trafficking. In 2014 she was invited to submit evidence to the House of Lords Committee on Extradition Law on extradition with overlapping proceedings. Amelia's international children law work includes public and private law proceedings in respect of children. Her practice includes Child Abduction, Relocation, Forced Marriage, Stranded Spouse cases and Wardship proceedings and she is increasingly instructed to represent children and their interests. Amelia frequently acts for vulnerable clients and her experience includes advising in cases involving capacity and best interests and representing those who require intermediaries.Amelia also writes regular legal updates on extradition and international children law.Amelia is also a trained mediator. She undertakes a wide range of mediation instruction in the context of civil claims. She is on the ADR/ODR Group teaching faculty, works for Wandsworth Mediation Panel and is developing a practice in business and human rights mediation.Prior to coming to the Bar, Amelia worked in international human rights in the NGO sector and at the International Criminal Court.
