I’m Amelia. Co-founder of Cool Crutches.Aged 19, I smashed my T12 vertebra. My spinal injury was life-changing, and doctors compared it to ‘taking a hammer to a meringue.’ The result: I’m permanently reliant on walking aids. I never expected, when doctors told me I’d need crutches for life, that this would mean:❌ Deep sores and blisters on my hands❌ The constant click, click, click of my every move❌ The fear of falling from crutches that were supposed to hold me up, and❌ The overwhelming feeling of helplessness and uselessness. I tried every walking aid there was, nothing on the market ticked all the boxes!
