Teavana was a high-growth, specialty retailer that was traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol TEA until late 2012, when at that point it was acquired by Starbucks. In anticipation of an IPO, I was brought onboard, reporting to CFO, to bring the Company’s income tax accounting in line with US GAAP standards. The Company IPO'd in July 2011.

• Prepared and reviewed corporate federal and state income tax returns and other mandatory filings (including addressing IRS and state notices received by clients, preparing quarterly estimates and extensions, and.
• Managed relationships and projects for routine on-call consulting as well as annuity services for clients across various industries including: transportation services, airline, and hotel management
• Functioned as primary liaison between engagement executives and client management to coordinate meetings, discuss project status, and billing collections
• Assisted audit teams with review of tax provisions, tax impacts to the financial statements and related footnote disclosures for publicly traded and private clients. Also performed 404 audit testing procedures.
• Performed tax technical research and draft technical memos and PowerPoint presentations for various tax planning engagements including global restructuring and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Trained staff to use tax software and templates, determine appropriate levels of work to delegate to staff, review staff’s work and provide performance reviews and feedback
