Hello, Hey, and Hi! That's how I greet my friends so I thought it was a good place to start. My name is Amelia and I thrive on creative output. I get a thrill out of fresh ideas, find fulfillment out of meaningful connections, and have the audacity to think I can do what I set my mind to. My professional life started as a hair and makeup artist. I didn't really have a plan - and who has a good one in their early 20's anyways - but a few years in grew into a very specific niche doing on location freelance work. From 2004-2011, I hustled doing freelance gig work, and without realizing it picked up a lot of skills that would serve me well. By the time I launched my own agency in 2011, I had learned: Communication skills are more important than any hard skill that can be automated, and that small consistencies and high-impact big plays are how the ball moves forward. I learned how to save my sanity through project management, the significance of developing strategic partners, and that if you don't manage your clients your clients will manage you. I learned how to lead a team, and am proud to say our clients have included American Eagle, Cannon USA, CES, G2E, Nike, Magic Johnson, and so many many more. I spent 2011-2015 learning how to run my agency, which quickly shot to be the most reputable and largest organization of its kind. Right around 2015, I realized all the skills I had picked up along the way, along with my nerve and grit, could be applied in any context I wanted. So, I started a digital magazine. It failed, spectacularly. Then, I launched a popcorn ball company. You read that right - not a popcorn company, not a candy company, but a popcorn ball company. In 2017 I walked into Whole Foods, handed a sample to the bakery manager, and by 2019 had our product on the shelves. That too, fell apart in the fall of 2019, but it sure makes for a great story.Then you-know-what happened in 2020. While everyone was pivoting this and remote working that, I was just trying to save my hair and makeup agency. After losing more than $300k in eight days, I started meal prepping for friends. The only goal was to stay alive and ride it out - keep my head afloat long enough for the rescue to arrive. What I ended up with was an offer to partner on a restaurant that made mainstream news by 2021. Somehow, in the middle of all this, I've been able to make both of my businesses mostly passive. I'm now on the hunt for my next thrill, and have the luxury of entertaining all possibilities.
