“What do you want to be when you grow up?”The question every kid hears when they are younger as if they had any clue. My responses changed as quickly as the seasons, the best talk show host, a therapist, a news anchor, an engineer manager, a successful artist, a world-renowned motivational speaker, a coffee shop owner, etc. Each one of these fields I knew I had to be really great at talking to people, learning how to win them over and learn what makes them tick. So at 15 I started my first customer service job, learning how to work with others, build lasting connections with customers, and making the best damn Coffee in Charlotte. Ever since then I've always had one to two jobs working whenever I can to practice building relationships with people and working on myself to excel in my future career. Working two jobs as a full-time student and athlete with two side hustles, I don't have a lot of free time but when I do, I like to read. I have learned some of the best life lessons not in the classroom but in books and at my jobs. Some of my favorites are “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” “Think and Grow Rich” and my current read “The Power of One More” by Ed Mylett. All these books are very different but basically come down to the same message, believe that you can do it, don't stop until you've done it, and when do it keep going and do it again. I often reference these different books and lessons in my everyday life, one more rep, one more sale, one more networking connection. I had no idea what I wanted to do when I was a kid, but I've always known I wanted to accomplish something big and in every field I'm in I want to be the best at it.
