Precepted for the Macalester undergraduate biology course "Biodiversity and Evolution." I prepared students for their laboratory assignments and provided academic support through individual instruction, including during weekly held independent office hours.

I worked with a team of undergraduate students and two Macalester professors (Dr. Mike Anderson and Dr. Jerald Dosch) at the Macalester College Katharine Ordway Field Station on several ongoing observational studies. Our team collected data on the impact of deer exclosures on native plant diversity in a oak forest understory, plant biodiversity in an oak forest floodplain, carbon sequestration in aboveground tree and shrub biomass, and vegetation differences in areas with and without the invasive Brassica Alliaria petiolata (garlic mustard).

Under the mentorship of Dr. Nyree Zerega and Dr. Louise Egerton-Warburton, I investigated the impact of a perennial wheatgrass (T. intermedium) on aboveground and belowground ecosystem health and stability, measured by soil microbial activity, soil respiration, and floristic quality index. I performed laboratory analysis and field work, including vegetation surveys and measuring of soil nutrient cycling, and then performed statistical analysis in R. After these analyses, I constructed a scientific poster and presented my findings to over 50 individuals at the 2021 University of Illinois at Chicago Poster Symposium.
