I ensure that the media business is in compliance with our Nationwide TV Licensing obligations. I keep abreast of market trends and new regulations that would impact the business, e.g. Copyright Act, Sugar Beverage Regulations, Film Classification Guidelines, etc. The usual closed door sessions with industry practitioners and Regulators certainly apply - to promote positive outcomes for the business by influencing favorable regulations that works for us, and is relevant with the industry landscape as well.

I provide Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) advisories to all the business units in StarHub. While complying with the Act, I do also ensure that the company is able to reach out to a wider customer base. I make tough compliance decisions with a very pro-business mindset.I do keep track of the market trends and new regulations that would impact the business, e.g. Personal Data Protection Act, Data Portability, etc This role requires me to work with the Regulator and respond to public consultation papers for positive outcomes so as to promote the company's business interest. I do participate in industry closed door sessions - these sessions allows me to anticipate upcoming regulatory changes and the best practices that other organisations do, to adhere to the Act. My strength in conceptualizing data flows and business scenarios makes me the project lead for all system automation projects whenever conformance to PDPA framework is warranted. Automation makes traceability of events so much easier and foolproof.I run tailored PDPA awareness workshops to all employees & outsourced partners so that they understand how PDPA applies to their course of work. My style of delivery is through humour - None of the folks who attended my workshop fell asleep. I keep an eye on the upcoming changes to the Act and work with the business units to future proof their policies, guidelines and processes. I would identify high risk areas to be included in our yearly audit. I manage escalated calls and attend to the customers when the operations need me to step forward. We go by the rules - all the customers need is assurance that their data is safe with us.

I seek opportunities for process improvement through data points and voice of internal customers. In my tenure with Business Excellence, I led a team of 6 and we automated 22 key operations through development of digital footprints. Key outcomes include cost savings, cost avoidance, improve process efficiency and reduction in cycle time. Results are also used to manage vendors to perform in accordance to the contractual obligations.

I am appointed as the User Project Manager to coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the smooth execution of this mega, enterprise-wide programme. My key roles include reporting progress, highlighting challenges and proposing alternatives to mitigate problems, so as to ensure that all milestones are delivered on-time and within scope. I establish and maintain good relationships with third parties/vendors. It is an art to keep the ecosystem between vendors and users well balanced.

I am part of the pioneer team to take over the key business process modules from outsourced consultants and to get StarHub ready for operational launch. Ive led teams through operational meetings to fine tune work processes to achieve stability at key functions, and fine tuning them to achieve faster turnaround for product and service launches. I am also the co-lead to assist the Chief Operating Officer in running a monthly forum to prioritize products and services for launch. I conduct operational audits, to ensure the relevancy of the documentations over the factor of time, and to have a sense of gaps and activity maturity for further improvement to achieve greater efficiency.

I can communicate with all levels in an organisation - the leadership team, the middle management, and the working teams. I sell benefits to my clients and working groups. At age 21, Ive clocked $1million sales turnover in 12 months just on consultancy projects alone. I love challenges - Through a friendly bet, my sales turnover allows me to neutralize my study bond with my employer 12 months in advance.

I have a good understanding of quality management standards and have track records in aiding organisations in complying to them. I do believe in helping the organisations to achieve the certifications through pragmatic approach and logical processes, than to drag them through textbook based standards which could spell the beginning of all suffering. Compliance to standards without considering the nature of operations and readiness of people is simply not sustainable. I prepare my clients for actual certification through dry run audits. This way, I know the gaps and have them fixed before the actual Compliance / Surveillance audit.
