Jan 2008 - Mar 2009The Chamber District Urban Garden Committee connects vacant city owned lots in the Chamber District of Mansfield with neighborhood residents and inner city youth groups. We facilitate the availability of tools and farm equipment with the grower and the appropriate aid organization and we negotiate the land leases with City Government. I founded and seated the committee, worked with the City of Mansfield to located garden sites and write a lease document, coordinated volunteers to turn and improve soil conditions, connected garden lots with community gardeners, and built partnerships with neighborhood non-profits for tools and equipment.

Jan 2008 - Mar 2009The Carrousel District Farmers market of Mansfield, Ohio is a community based program that seeks to partner the inner city residents need for healthy fresh food alternatives with the local growers need for profitable sales outlets for their food stuff. We also partner with local youth programs and the Chamber District Urban Garden Committee to bring “seed to sales” knowledge to our inner city youth. We work with area farmers, artisans and community growers to provide a well organized and marketed venue to sell food stuffs and hand crafted items. I founded and seated the committee, developed the prospectus, and coordinated the volunteer based committee. I managed vendor contacts, marketing, financials, funding, set up and tear down logistics, and I worked with the city on street closures, etc.

Founding MemberArt Works On Main Apr 2000 - Sep 2005Art Works on Main was an artist owned gallery located in the Historic Carrousel District. Operating as a cooperative it is dedicated to exhibiting the talents of many serious artists, affording an opportunity and the facilities whereby artists can sell their work and exchange ideas in an organized forum, and stimulating the development of art within the community and the cause of art in general. I was one of two founding members of Art Works On Main and as such I participated in the writing of the business plan and artist prospectus, the start up operations and coordination, and on going gallery management which included volunteer scheduling, marketing, events programming, accounting and financials, fund raising, etc. Finally, in order to create the possibility of long term sustainability, I participated in the development and facilitation of a partnership with the Mansfield Art Center which managed operations until its closure.
