In this role, I'm tasked with managing a 153,000 square feet student center and the operations of that facility. Areas of focus are as follows: Facilities and Operations management; employee and student employee supervision; building partner and contracted space coordination and support; emergency response and coordination. The Memorial Union is a brand new facility built on the site of the old building that opened in August 2021. I was involved in the two (2) year project team as a core member representing UND and the Memorial Union. Common job functions include: management of all electronic door access requests and access groups; supervision and coaching of student staff and a staff member; working with building partners to tackle and solve problems impacting their operation - partners include retail dining, bakery/catering, Student Involvement, Career Services, One Stop Student Services, Student Diversity and Inclusion, Pride Center, International Center, and the Vice President of Student Affairs office; customer service for various sized events that occur daily; monitoring safety and preventing potential incidents by proactively negating risks. Role requires adaptability, problem solving, relationship building, and attention to detail.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the Memorial Union. Specific areas for this position include the Information Center and the Loading Dock; the supervision of 10+ student employees; assisting the Director with the management of the building; and coordinating personnel actions for student staff.

This position will oversee all aspects of the Memorial Union’s student employment development program. This includes (but is not limited to) conducting orientation, on-the-job training, connecting task accomplishment to learning outcomes, assessing the overall effectiveness of training, and developing training materials. This position will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of three service areas to include the Information Center, Lifetime Sports Center, and Union Services. The Memorial Union employs between 35-45 students each semester of which between 10-15 student employees will be directly supervised by this position. The position will also be responsible for coordinating personnel actions for both full-time and student staff.
