I am a MRC-DTP funded PhD student within the Re:Spect Research Group (2021-2025) at the Social, Genetic and Developmental Centre, King's College London. Supervised by Professor Francesca Happe, Professor Andrea Danese and Dr Freya Rumball, my research explores post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in autistic children and young people. My current research uses a mixed methods approach to investigate potential pathways of risk in autistic children for developing PTSD, which I hope to inform how PTSD is recognised, diagnosed, and treated in autistic young people. My interests broadly revolve around widening the accessibility of mental healthcare. I am committed to understanding how mental health develops throughout childhood and is influenced by co-occurring diagnoses and life events. Before my PhD, I worked as a research assistant at the Psychopharmacology and Emotion Lab (PERL) at the University of Oxford (2020-2021), where I assisted with the design, analysis and implementation of both face-to-face and online experimental medicine studies investigating the role of inflammation in depression. Prior to that, I gained a BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Science (Neuroscience) at Cardiff University (2014-2018) and an MSc in Cognitive and Therapeutic Neuroscience from the University of Oxford (2019-2020). Beyond my PhD work, I enjoy my role as a student representative, volunteer as an honorary assistant psychologist for the National Psychology Clinic and host of the Autism Research (ARCH) seminars.
