Mar 2024 - Present

Product Manager

Redmond, Washington, United States

As a Product Manager I, I worked in the Azure Virtual Networks team on Azure Virtual Network Manager (AVNM) and briefly on Service Tags. AVNM simplifies the management of customers' network resources at scale by providing mechanisms to easily establish and maintain desired connectivity, security, routing, monitoring, and more. Over the span of 2.5 years, I had the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and innovators as AVNM broached the public preview domain -- laying the groundwork for me to own various customer scenarios and contribute to the continued success of this product. In this time as a PM I, I collaborated on the following initiatives:- AVNM's public preview (launched & demo'd at Microsoft Ignite 2021)- AVNM's GA (hub and spoke connectivity configuration)- AVNM's security admin GA- Internal program to secure Microsoft's C+AI division with AVNM security admin rules- Continuous engagement with customers through product overview, roadmap, and demo presentations and discussions- Marketing and documentation authoring of several AVNM blogs and LinkedIn posts detailing use cases and best practices- Product monitoring and discoverability through event logging and queryable resource data- UX research studies and design iterations for upcoming feature releases and improvements- Service Tag's support in network security groups (NSGs) and user-defined routes (UDRs) GAThe focus of my work all comes back to chartering a new path in the customer experience of cloud network resource management at scale. This has been a space filled with endless opportunities to learn, tackle unique challenges, and exercise ownership in a far-reaching and high-impact product.

Aug 2021 - Mar 2024

Program Manager Intern

Redmond, Washington, United States

I worked in Azure Networking's Software-Defined Networking (SDN) space on Private Link, which allows customers to privately connect from their virtual networks to Azure PaaS services. Before diving deep into my project, I spent several weeks familiarizing myself with Azure, networking concepts, and Private Link on several levels. This helped me to contextualize my work and hold confidence to my contributions.Although my learning phase never stopped, about a month into my internship I conducted research and iterative user studies with large customers to pinpoint their issues with managing their Private Link resources at scale. I exposed a property that would be key to managing their resources' public network access and I automated the process of DNS configuration related to Private Link establishment. These solutions consisted mainly of newly built-in Azure Policy solutions, for which I drove the creation of and wrote best-practice documentation. The overall outcome of my work is a positive feedback loop for customers to better manage several Private Link resources (and in turn encourage increased use of Private Link as well). This opportunity provided me with hands-on experience as a PM. Although I had plenty of informal PM experience in past internships and projects, this was the first time I had this degree of work impact. I was truly able to immerse myself in the philosophy of building for the users, and gained a unique perspective in working with enterprise customers. As a result of this summer, I grew far outside of my "feature PM" comfort zone and can confidently say I've become a much better PM for it.

May 2020 - Aug 2020

Software Engineer Intern

Greater Pittsburgh Area

I was a part of the Tech Pricing Team, which operates through paired programming. This agile technique has allowed me to quickly pick up the existing architecture, Spring Boot + Kotlin, and Angular framework of the team's pricing services and applications. As a result, I have been able to debug, test, and modify code across these platforms and a variety of services provided by the Pricing Team.In addition to daily paired programming, I developed a feature in PriceIQ, which will be used in-house to easily set styles on discount. This feature will allow users to preview how their submitted discount will appear on DSG's website as a part of the style's display card. In effect, this feature addresses ease of use, convenience, and efficiency in creating a discount event. This opportunity provided me with my first (official) real-world experience with software engineering at an internship, giving me confidence in my desired career path and immersion in the software engineering role on a team and as an individual. I learned to better read code and write tests for functionality and logic. I also got the chance to experience the product management role, as I fulfilled that role in my own project, considering business value, technical feasibility, and user feedback/design as a part of the iterative process for developing the feature.

My code was the result of continuous evaluation of dozens of JavaScript libraries, and the assessment of those with the highest optimization potential for visual graphing, sonification, data processing and scheduling, and an interactive synthesizer. This opportunity provided me with skills in self-managing my own project nearly from scratch, including teaching myself JavaScript, considering auditory and user designs based on a desired UI and data formats. This was also my first unofficial real-world experience with coding, and was one of the factors in my change in major from physics and astronomy to computer science and information science.
