About Michelle Frederick

Michelle Frederick is the Senior Director of Talent Development at American University. Ms. Frederick conducts needs assessments, curriculum development, course design, and classroom training for Facilities staff and AU staff. She is one of the developers and facilitators of APPA’s “Supervisor’s Toolkit: Nuts and Bolts of Facilities Supervision” training program. Most recently Michelle became a certified Franklin-Covey and DDI (Development Dimensions International) facilitator as well as certified in Creative Problem Solving. She is also a certified administrator and facilitator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Pacific Institute’s Investment In Excellence program, and the Federal Quality Institute’s Total Quality Management program. Michelle came to American University from the Smithsonian Institution where she was the Training Specialist for the Office of Physical Plant for 9 years. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland and a graduate of the Training Specialist Certificate program at Georgetown University. In June 2001, Michelle graduated from the certificate program in Human Performance Improvement through the American Society for Training and Development. Michelle has been an active member of the local and Eastern Region of APPA as the Education Representative on both Boards, as well as being an editor of the ERAPPA Newsletter. In 2008, Michelle was elected Vice President of Professional Development for ERAPPA. In 2012, Michelle was elected President-Elect for ERAPPA.
