Ami Chichakyan Email and Phone Number
I have never chosen journalism—journalism chose me, specifically at Yerevan State Linguistic University, where I was enrolled in Linguistics and Communication (English) program. Then in 2016, I obtained my MA degree in Journalism at Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences. Writing is one of those few things that I enjoy the most. And I’m one of those happy people who love their job and don’t hate Sunday nights and Monday mornings. I kicked off my career at the Armenian newspaper Aravot in 2013. I started as an intern, then a journalist, followed by the editor of English Edition, and now as project lead. During my journey at Aravot, I covered breaking news, conducted interviews, edited photos and videos, and managed teams of translators. The highlight of my career is the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, which I covered in 2020. As a project lead, my proposal won a grant. Thereby, we started a studio at Aravot. And now, I’m coordinating the production of video projects and leading the SMM and video production teams.Apart from Aravot, I write stories for EU Neighbors East and conduct interviews and research for Caucasus Watch. I have experience working with international media outlets as well. I have cooperated with Kobalt Productions as a stringer and director assistant for documentaries for Arte: Re in 2019 and 2022. And in 2022, I filmed a documentary about Kronidzor, an Armenian village that appeared to be on the border after the war in Nagorno-Karabakh. I have written stories about women of Nagorno-Karabakh for a Catalan media outlet, Nationalia. I also covered the revolution in Armenia in 2018 for Euronews. I'm specialized in media ethics and self-regulation. I wrote my master's thesis on this topic, comparing the situation in Armenia with German, Swedish and British experiences. Moreover, in 2021 I had a chance to participate in "Media Regulation in a Democratic Framework" by Fojo Media Institute and Sida. I was a fellow at ForSet in Georgia for digital communication. I'm familiar, and I can work with Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office. I’m open to opportunities. So, if you have some ideas drop me a DM or contact me at amichichakyan@gmail.com.
