About Antonio (Tony) Micilotta
Tony Micilotta has a BSc in Electrical Engineering and was awarded a PhD in Computer Vision for his contribution to human detection and tracking algorithms as demonstrated by the Sony Eye Toy and Microsoft Kinect. His career has spanned software vendors and games/VFX studios, working as an engineer on Black Magic’s Cintel film scanner and as the technical product manager for Foundry’s Nuke. In post-production, Tony led R&D teams in multiple areas including the future sentinel on X-Men, and the trees of The Jungle Book. Most recently, he established a product development department at DNEG to provide a more disciplined approach to software development, and to deploy their next generation USD pipeline.Tony is currently Senior Director at Autodesk, focused on the development of the common core capabilities of animation, modelling, graphics and USD, and their deployment into DCCs and the upcoming online platform, Flow.
