About Andrew Midkiff

I have mediated between technology and its users for almost 30 years, ensuring that what is built and delivered is what was truly needed. I’ve worked in, and led, teams for just about every aspect of software and product delivery in industries ranging from automotive, to oil and gas, insurance, health care and pharmaceuticals. My dedication to an agile approach reaches back over 20 years, and I’ve used this agile toolset in delivering everything from large, core business systems to alignment of corporate and IT strategies, and even processes for creating and managing prioritized enterprise portfolios. I’ve also designed and delivered complex governance and compliance frameworks in highly regulated environments, while keeping grounded to the right balance of risk/reward and cost/benefit for the different organizations. I currently apply this extensive experience to helping organizations implement Generative AI with the proper governance and attention to risk to ensure an ethical and sustainable implementation.

Repeated annually for four years. Asked to present this to all operational and IT heads as an example to be copied. Project/Program/Portfolio Managemento Project manager for the $10 Million technical build-out of a new, 500,000 square-foot, 5 story headquarters building. Researched and selected vendors, and managed their engagement with Rho engineers for structured cabling, data center, access control, a.v. for conference rooms and public spaces, security systems, etc. Completed the project in an accelerated and challenging time schedule and within budget. o Identified the opportunity, and led the project to retire disparate web conferencing solutions across the enterprise and replace with a single solution. Within two months of implementation, training was complete, adoption was universal, exceptions were being managed, and saved the company over $150,000 the first year.o Rescued a struggling effort to achieve FISMA (federal information security) compliance by organizing the complex and interrelated needs into a structured and deliverable portfolio of trackable work that could then be run by more mid-level project managers.o Led the portfolio definition and successfully managed the projects of a portfolio of work to modernize multiple, key, software and infrastructure systems, mostly from home-grown or outdated systems to modern, SaaS, cloud-based systems. In the 2012 third-party employee engagement survey at Quintiles my team scored 92% for their overall Employee Engagement Index, and I received from my team scores of 100% in Management Effectiveness (company avg is 69%), 100% for Inclusion and Teamwork and 100% for Recognition and RewardsPlayed a lead role in designing a lean, time-boxed, predictable, sustainable delivery process in order to continue development of the product. This led to over 16, six-week development cycles (in a heavily validated environment!) without missing a delivery date, and often over-delivering scope commitments, before the team was integrated into the larger Data FactoryWe won the Team Innovation Award, the highest award within Quintiles, for our first year’s work.After the Infosario Reporting and Analytics group was merged into the six larger data warehouse product teams to create one organization, Infosario Data Factory and Analytics, I became the Process Lead responsible for scaling the lean process developed for Infosario Reporting and Analytics to this larger, 125+ person development organization.
