I completed my Bachelor's in International Studies with a focus in Sustainable Community Development. I designed this focus for my degree, inspired by an independent research project I did in Bamako, Mali with women in rural villages. During and after university, I further explored my interests in community development and sustainability by working for permaculture and community garden projects around the world. After graduating, I continued my education through international travel, living in cultures different than my own and learning new languages. While living abroad, I have deepened my knowledge, experience and interest in different forms of body therapy and the arts. I worked as a massage therapist and yoga instructor for 3-5 years while I worked towards my masters in Mental Health and Counseling with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy.I see work as vocation, a calling, or something that must give a sense of purpose in order to be fulfilling. My combined passions for environmental sustainability, body therapy, healing techniques, and the arts all serve to help me find meaning in what I do. I am currently working as the grants manager for The Global Peace Initiative of Women, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting young ecological leaders around the world through community building and creating contexts where they can nourish their spiritual lives and reflect on the "inner dimensions" of our current climate crisis.
