Start (Stockport Treatment - Access To Recovery Team)
Receive and progress public and third-party referrals as the single point of contact and front-end triage service for all drug and alcohol treatment services in Stockport. Liaise with statutory, private and third-sector organisations comprising of; hospitals, GPs, adult/child social care, mental health services, substance misuse services, courts, prisons, probation (NPS & CRC), welfare, housing and employment agencies. Provide information, harm minimisation advice and signposting to the general public, professionals, clients and concerned others. Facilitate a weekly Alcohol Information for Recovery group session to increase awareness of the different support and treatment options available for Stockport residents.Conduct holistic screening and person-centred assessments with clients to identify needs and risks, referring on to the most appropriate recovery provider. Utilise asset-based and recovery-orientated approaches, motivational interviewing, coaching and CBT to promote sustainable recovery. Complete risk assessments, address safeguarding concerns and support clients' transition into each service. Assume an advocacy role to advise on recovery options, and address complex needs (e.g. contribute intelligence of domestic abuse/high-risk cases referred to MARAC).Deliver criminal justice interventions aimed at preventing offending behaviour, relapse and promoting community safety. Conduct Required Assessments with offenders referred by GMP after testing positive for class A's following arrest. Coordinate community recovery, prescription regimes, assessment, court and prison release dates with various HMP teams. Assess offenders at Stockport Magistrates Court to determine the suitability of alcohol treatment/rehabilitation activity requirements as part of pre-sentencing reports for community/suspended sentence orders. Support offenders attending Problem Solving Court to address factors linked to reoffending, through multi-agency intervention prior to sentencing.
