Human Resources Director
Current• HR ADMINISTRATION. Provide administrative authority and accountability for planning, organizing, directing all human resources functions for multi-site nationally located online book retailer with 350 employees and contract staff. • LEADERSHIP. Participate as integral member of leadership team serving as HR advocate/liaison to executive management ensuring consistent enforcement of policies, procedures, and laws; provide coaching and mentorship on effective feedback and appropriate employee communication and interaction.• STAFFING (SOURCE/RECRUIT/ONBOARD). Ensure appropriate staffing for 9 US locations; roles range from entry-level warehouse to C-level leadership.• HR MANAGEMENT. Plan, develop, organize, hire, train, oversee HR department (team of 4).• EMPLOYEE RELATIONS. Direct employee/employer relations practices, supporting an environment that promotes positive relationships, encourages staff development, maintains morale, and promotes equal opportunity.• BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION & ENROLLMENT. Direct benefits administration and vendor management; Review, research, select, and disseminate benefits plans and open enrollment on an annual basis.• PAYROLL. Perform bi-weekly payroll preparation ensuring correct hours entry, appropriate coding for attendance (FMLA, Bereavement etc.) for accurate payment processing.• HR POLICY. Develop and implement policies, procedures, protocols, best practices for the Company • LABOR RELATIONS. Manage union and multi-state non-union labor relations to include grievances; Participate in annual union contract negotiations.• CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT. Provide continuous process and policy improvement maintaining and disseminating documentation within the Company’s handbook.• FEDERAL/STATE/LOCAL REGULATIONS. Research and remain current on HR-related federal/state laws and regulations to ensure company compliance. Provide law interpretations to executive management so changes are immediately imposed.
