Amin Babaei-Ghazvini, Ph.D., Eit, Email and Phone Number
I do research on biomaterials as a sustainable substitute for petroleum-based and limited substances. Materials characterization is my interest. I teach General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry to the science and engineering students. My expertise is on carbohydrate polymers like cellulose and its derivatives, starch, and chitosan, in combination with other biomaterials/synthetic polymers/petroleum polymers to develop more green materials which can be used in packaging, biomedical, and sustainable materials.Metal/metal oxides development and their applications in nanocomposites fabrication. Development of conductive polymers with doping approaches.Recently, I started working on lignin and its applications for the production of sustainable materials. Metaloorganic frameworks and their use to do liquid-liquid 3-D printing is very fascinating to me. I also engaged in research on heterogeneous catalysts and conductive polymers for various applications, which are very interesting! My interest to learn more about the materials characteristics has been always there! X-Ray methods (XPS, XRD, GIWAXS, XAS, XES, Synchrotron), IR methods, UV-Vis methods, Electron Microscopy, and etc, are my favorite methods for studying the fabricated materials.
