My main research interest is a synergy of resilience and sustainability in the built environments under the pressures of urbanization and climate change. To obtain this goal, my academic activities mainly focus on how to optimize the three pillars of sustainability throughout the life cycle of the built environment, using decision-making methods, simulations, computational models, as well as experimental methods.I have been working on sustainability in residential buildings, mainly post-disaster housing, for more than ten years. My PhD thesis, publications, and research projects could demonstrate that I considered this multi-dimensional issue from different points of view. My research studies related to sustainability in residential buildings could be broken down into two main parts; buildings’ sustainability (assessing: construction materials and technology, building façade and roof, plan layout, IEQ, etc.) & buildings locations (considering: site preparation, facilities, disrupting ecosystems, etc.).To tackle challenging problems in my research study path, I have been a researcher of several research projects. In this regard, since I started my postdoctoral position (2017-2019) until now, such as (1) two teaching innovation projects to choose the best active learning strategies, (2) two projects related to sustainability assessment of building façades; multi-material façade systems & recycled textile-reinforced cement façade cladding, (3) two projects to consider cost-effective passive design methods, (4) a project to design an initial sustainable and green building rating system, (5) to consider the sustainability concept in post-disaster housing, (6) to select the optimal site location for the temporary housing unit, and (7) two projects related to reconstruction programs. I began my teaching career in 2007 as a lecturer at the School of Architecture at Islamic Azad University, Tehran (Iran) (2007-2012). I was a lecturer in the Master of Sustainability Science and Technology Program at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona (Spain) (2017-2019). I have been a co-supervisor of Master's and PhD theses at UPC, such as a PhD dissertation entitled “Effects of urban planning, architecture, and construction on city’s air pollution.”Besides my research activities, I continuously worked as an architectural designer, building supervisor, and draftsman (2001-2012). Since the end of 2016, I have been working as an external collaborator architect and sustainability consultant with different architectural firms.
