Youth in Motion is a volunteer-led organisation providing free online tutoring and youth worker support to disadvantaged students across Sydney. We are a team of passionate volunteers committed to empowering disadvantaged youth through education.

Providing a range of consultancy services to businesses, universities and start-ups:Customer and product strategy workshops and development; consultancy for start-ups (i.e. GTM strategies, business development, data and analytics); fundraising support to NGOs and start-ups to identify and secure sources of external funding; creating, sourcing and delivering GenAI literacy workshops to industry leaders, Board members and university students; writer and invited speaker at industry events.

Amina's role included driving sale opportunities, managing client relationships and leading delivery teams. Director of Customer Strategy and Design (Oct'20-Oct'23), Amina demonstrated leadership and strategic acumen in customer strategy and digital transformation. Multi-tasking across multiple projects with cross-skilled teams, she helped to develop and execute tailored customer strategies and solutions grounded in industry-specific insights, working in telco, resources and utilities, financial services, and government. She was instrumental in advising C-suite clients, providing thought leadership, and guiding digital and product transformation initiatives. As Director of the AI Institute, she played a pivotal role in developing the strategic roadmap and launch of the AI Institute (June'20-Oct'20). She organised AI fluency workshops for CEOs and executives, defined strategic AI use cases, collaborated with internal data and AI teams building market offerings and assets, built partnerships with global firms and public sector organisations.In addition to her client work, Amina managed national practices (i.e. Experience Management practice and vendor partnerships and Graduate Capability Lead), and led extensive stakeholder engagement. Her ability to foster executive relationships, mentor teams, and deliver high-quality outcomes positioned her as a trusted advisor and thought leader within the organisation and the broader industry.

At Telstra, Amina Crooks demonstrated her expertise and leadership as a Data & Analytics Product Owner from March 2018 to May 2020. During this period, she spearheaded several transformative projects that significantly enhanced Telstra’s data capabilities and operational efficiency.Amina led the end-to-end implementation of cutting-edge data solutions, such as Einstein Analytics and a supply chain data lake on the Azure platform. These initiatives were instrumental in delivering real-time insights across Telstra’s sales and service channels, enabling more informed decision-making and improved customer experiences. Her strategic vision and business acumen were evident as she successfully initiated and developed business cases and commercial agreements for these projects.In her role, Amina excelled in executive and stakeholder engagement, acting as a crucial bridge between delivery teams and C-suite leaders. Her ability to build and maintain strong relationships ensured alignment and collaboration across multiple business units, driving collective action toward common goals. Her achievements were recognised with an Executive Group Award for individual contribution and selection for Telstra’s Emerging Females in Technology Program.Amina’s leadership at Telstra was characterised by her innovative problem-solving skills, her passion for driving collective outcomes, and her commitment to delivering high-quality, impactful solutions. Her work laid the groundwork for Telstra’s ongoing advancements in data and analytics.

As a Senior Specialist in Data & Analytics at Telstra from March 2018 to May 2019, Amina led cross-skilled teams of analysts, developers, UX designers, and visualisation specialists to develop customer insights and business performance metrics for business leaders and delivery teams in Channel Operations, including Digital CX, retail sales and services, call centre, complaints, supply chain and digital transformational programs focused on new technology implementations and product simplification. In addition to being a people leader for 6-8 onshore team members, she also managed the offshore team in India which ranged from 20-30 people. In this role, Amina demonstrated strategic vision, project management, stakeholder engagement, technical proficiency, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Her expertise in data analytics and technology, combined with her innovative problem-solving abilities, significantly advanced Telstra’s data capabilities and operational efficiency. Amina’s leadership and mentorship fostered a motivated and high-performing team environment.

As a Principal Research Officer at the Victorian Agency for Health Information (VAHI) from October 2017 to March 2018, Amina Crooks led a team of epidemiologists and biostatisticians to deliver advanced analytics and insights on hospital health information quality. She collaborated with senior health professionals and policymakers to develop continuous improvements and innovative capabilities. Amina created policies and risk-based frameworks to enhance data reporting and decision-making, improving patient safety and experience. Her leadership and expertise in analytics were crucial in driving the quality and effectiveness of health information management across Victoria's healthcare system.

As a Senior Epidemiologist, graduate supervisor, and lecturer at the University of Sydney from February 2010 to September 2016, Amina Crooks made significant contributions to both research and education. She conducted large-scale epidemiological studies, overseeing the entire process from strategy and design to execution and dissemination. Amina's research focused on public health, where she collaborated with senior stakeholders across various disciplines to address critical health issues. Her work resulted in over 40 peer-reviewed scientific papers published in esteemed international journals, showcasing her expertise and impact in the field.In addition to her research, Amina played a pivotal role in securing millions of dollars in grant funding, which supported multi-year research programs. She managed large projects, including funding applications, staff management, budget oversight, and progress tracking. Her leadership in these projects ensured their successful completion and substantial contributions to public health knowledge.As an educator, Amina was deeply involved in teaching and mentoring. She lectured in the Faculty of Medicine and the School of Public Health, where she developed and delivered curriculum content. She also supervised undergraduate, Masters, and PhD students, providing guidance and support for their research projects. Amina's dedication to education and mentorship helped shape the next generation of public health professionals, fostering their development and success in the field.
