I have over 14 years of experience in a wide range of biological systems, including animal, plant, viral and microbial systems using modern molecular and cell biology techniques, including genomics. My main focus of study was the interface between RNA virus replication and cellular pathways of RNA metabolism. He published in highly rated scientific journals such as Cell, PNAS-USA and Molecular and Cellular Biology, presented at scientific meetings, and was awarded more than $2.9 million in grants from the National Institutes of Health. Prior to joining the firm, I managed a number of research groups in academic and commercial pharmaceutical settings. I served on the faculty of the West Virginia University in the Department of Biochemistry where I taught undergraduate, pre-med and graduate courses in biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology.

At Apath, I was responsible for directing the virology group. The group's programs included the development of virology research tools, the development of assays for high throughput screening and anti-viral compound characterization, and antiviral drug discovery and compound characterization. The viruses I worked with include hepatitis C virus (HCV), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), West Nile virus (WNV), and EBOLA and Marburg viruses.

At West Virginia University, I established my own lab where I was working on characterizing a conserved cellular pathway that regulates cellular RNA translation and degradation, and virus genomic RNA translation and replication.
