As an academic representative, I requested feedbacks and imimplemented correcting actions for the concerns of the postgraduates at the Automatic Control and Systems Engineering (ACSE) department of the University of Sheffield. I assisted the staff at ACSE to construct suitable actions, aiming to improve the courses for current and future students at the university.

As the postgraduate representative of the faculty of engineering I liaised with students and staff at the faculty level (including departments of aerospace, automatic control, bio, chemical, civil, electrical and electronics, materials and mechanical engineering).I processed the issues and concerns of the academic representatives at departmental level and, collaborated with the lectures and staff to raise concerns and devise suitable actions to enhance the academic output and performance of the entire faculty. Furthermore, I undertook various leadership and negotiation masterclasses to complement my role.

During my internship at the National Composites Centre, I spent 2 weeks in the Design and Simulation team. During this time, I built upon my previous computer-aided engineering (CAE) knowledge with real-life product design and analysis. I designed a bonnet, went through the material selection process, stress analysis (FEA), parametric optimisation and manufacturing process simulation. I got familiar with software packages such as: Catia, Hypermesh, Abaqus, PAM RTM and more.The remaining 11 weeks of my internship, I was in the Quality team. My critical thinking abilities and communication skills proved me suitable for investigating non-conformances. During the investigations, I was responsible for analysing root cause and suggesting corrective actions for the engineering-related non-conformances.During my 13 weeks at the National Composites Centre, I improved my problem-solving skills and learned how to approach problems with an open mind. In addition, I learned the operational logic and got familiar with the user interface of 5 major CAE software and, gained an extensive insight into various manufacturing processes of composites and the challenges within their large-scale manufacturing.
