An in-house project to improve Volvo Cars crash management system (Cluster 90). The objective of this project was to study an alternative material based on composite systems for VCC’s crash-box and crash beam. A challenging aspect of this alternative material was to have comparable crash capabilities from the currently used materials while being more cost and weight efficient.
