I lead Amazon's Worldwide Real Estate decarbonization standard development and implementation for new builds and retrofits across North America. On a daily basis, I work closely with industry leaders across the building materials sector (Cement & Concrete, Steel, Timber) to identify strategies that can reduce scope 3 emissions of Amazon buildings. My work also includes finding the balance between retrofitting existing assets vs. acquiring new ones based on cost and carbon.

At the Sustainable Infrastructure Group we are collaborating with other AECOM Groups such as the High Performance Buildings and Communities, Sustainable Economics and Landscape Architecture to redefine the future of resiliency as it relates to urbanism and infrastructure. In my new role, I will be drawing from my hands on experience with master plans, design and construction works for public and private projects across the US, and internationally, to focus on delivering high quality work for public and private sector clients. The sustainable infrastructure group integrates sustainable and resilient solutions into the built environment. We are technical experts who bring pragmatic yet innovative approaches to any stage of a project’s life. Our focus areas are advanced water and wastewater systems, energy systems of the future, equitable communities, and functional ecosystems. SIG has been working on delivering award winning public projects that include resilient utility systems, campus wide future-proof masterplans, and development projects that re-imagine the role of infrastructure in creating urban environments that work for everyone.

Amir is a resourceful project manager and team member, specializing in GI Planning, Engineering Design, and Construction. With a focus on Grading and Surface Drainage Improvements, Highway Design and Management, Transportation Engineering, Scheduling and Construction Cost Estimating, Amir has more than eight years of experience on GI projects across the nation. He has been an active part of multiple projects in various stages (research and pre- and post-construction monitoring, planning, design, construction inspection, and post construction maintenance planning).

As a member of Center for Infrastructure Research (CIR), my and CIR's involvement in the MSD's master plan to reduce combined sewer overflow in the city of Louisville began almost at the same time. The plan has been to install and instrument green stormwater infrastructures such as permeable paver strips to reduce stormwater runoff and actively monitor the performance of those installed controls. I have been involved in the instrumentation of the GIs, developing the Quality Assurance Project Plan, the actual installation, calibration, programming and installing the monitoring instruments and maintenance of the GIs. Other aspects of our work has been to refine the work as we move forward to future phases in terms of both monitoring and maintenance, and I have been actively involved with both.

The project that I am working on is a Green Stormwater Infrastructure and is a part of Louisville's Project WIN by Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD).My involvement in Project WIN includes: • Working with Louisville MSD and URS Corp. under a CRADA with the EPA on Project WIN, installing and monitoring green infrastructure in Louisville, KY• Analysis of data collected from Louisville’s green infrastructure• Conducting lab experiment on the effects of the physical environment on the performance of green infrastructure• Active member of office of research and development in Edison, NJ working on development of quality assurance project plan for the first phase of Project WIN• Programming and calibration of instruments for monitoring green stormwater infrastructure• Active involvement in the construction and installation of research monitoring equipment on green infrastructure
