This initiative champions contemporary artists by offering a 6-week residency, encompassing both living quarters and a studio. Nestled in the enchanting Maitland Art Center compound, this space is not only a temporary abode for artists but also a hub of creative vitality. A&H houses a dynamic local studio residency program, an esteemed Art School, a modern art museum, and three captivating history museums.

As an artist assistant, I handle outreach, applications, organisation, and general admin tasks, working closely with the artist on a one-one basis.

The residency at the Factory on Willow offered me so much more than I could have ever expected. The AiR program is connected to a truly supportive and enthusiastic team, enabling me to feel both encouraged and equipped throughout my whole experience. There is also an active community of creatives throughout the city of Manchester too, and these connections, alongside those I made directly through the residency program offered me so much. Looking back, this is one of the best decisions I’ve made as an artist, and with the continued support from the epic team, I’ve gained a beneficial leverage that will pay off tenfold, and I would highly recommend this program to creatives at any level.
