About Amira Komari

A visual designer and community facilitator who believes in the power of conversations as a tool for positive change.Graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts (Distinction), Visual Communication, I worked for 4 years in a non-profit design organisation, Participate in Design (P!D). As a former Principal Associate with P!D, I brainstormed new ways of engaging public and oversee design concepts, direction and production. My interest lies in community engagement, accessible visual design and comprehension, and health. My Final Year Project (2017 - 2018) under the supervision of Associate Professor Michael Tan Koon Boon centred around the topic of Young-Onset Alzheimer's and how design can bridge communication between caregiver and patient. In 2021, I moderated a panel with Singapore Writer's Festival, 'Navigating Memory Lane', which shed light on 2 children books which explored the theme of grandparents with Alzheimer's. Everyone can be collaborators, and not just consumers of change. My current scope of work explores an interesting trajectory of engagement and design within the public sector, specifically for public officers.
