Amirhossein Nouroozi was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1986. He studied Trumpet Performance for his bachelor's degree at the Tehran Conservatory of Music. He performed as a trumpeter in multiple concerts and festivals, including the Fourth International Contemporary Music Festival and the Third International Electronic Music Festival in Tehran. Amir started studying composition with Professor Maka Virsaladze in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 2017, working on a wide variety of music, from solos to orchestral music. He is currently a graduate student in composition at the University of Manitoba.Amirhossein Nouroozi is the proud recipient of the inaugural Dr. Michael Matthews annual composition prize for his orchestral piece Darkness and Sun, which was premiered by the UMSO conducted by Naomi Woo on Dec 08, 2022.He has been a member of GroundSwell's board of directors as a student representative since January 2023.
