Built, generated, and analyzed a multitude of reports utilizing SQL and PL/SQL queries for use by end users, management, as well as other IT staff. Member and lead of the frontline team which included management, end-users, and IT staff, responsible for verifying and investigating new and critical defects and finding workarounds as well as documenting the root-cause. Facilitated JAD and JAR meetings, conducting design and code peer reviews. Created and updated web services using Java technology components. Provided in-depth, KT, 1-on-1, and classroom sessions to State staff and consultants. Reviewed/update design and code to ensure optimized performance and adherence to the project standards. Highlights: Rewrote and implemented the Annual Interest Posting process to better handle the large data requirements, utilize new business logic, and reduce processing time. Improvement goals were exceeded – reducing the process from several days down to just a few hours. Instrumental in eliminating the need in having to shut down the myCalPERS system annually for a weekend for the Annual Member Statement by utilizing standby environments. This allowed processing during work hours eliminating downtime and hundreds of man hours.

CalPERS was in a technical transition phase during this period, moving from its prior Java windows-based implementation of CDB into the new My|CalPERS system. CDB was a multi-year, multi-million-dollar corporate database project developed with object-oriented development tools (J2EE, RSA Suite, etc.) and enabling technologies in a client server environment. The My|CalPERS application replaced 47 legacy systems and is a web based, enterprise application that streamlines business operations and provides external agencies and member access to view and maintain their data.Functioned as a senior technical specialist on the application development team of the My|CalPERS (PSR) application, supporting multiple components of the applications. This effort included the utilization of Spring with Model View Controller (MVC) Framework and Spring Web Services. Duties included facilitating JAR/JAD session, facilitating use case meetings, prototyping window designs, developing object model and data model designs, and developing/unit testing system software, and supporting System / IST and CAT testing. The responsibilities also involved serving as a solution architect performing enterprise application integration to assure architecture quality and assist in the designing and developing component architecture. Software tools utilized during this time included Oracle TOAD and SQL, JAVA, excel/ VB Script, Clear Case / Clear Quest, Eclipse, BEA Weblogic, XML, HTML, JSP, Javascript, and Rational Rose (for UML documentation).

COMET functionality consisted of Member Demographics and Accounting, Health Benefits, Employer Contracts and Reserves, Payroll, Financials, and Retirement Benefits. Responsible for the design, development and unit testing of system enhancements for the COMET system. Duties included facilitating JAR/JAD session, facilitating use case meetings, prototyping window designs, developing object model and data model designs, and developing/unit testing system software, and supporting System / IST and CAT testing. The responsibilities also involved serving as a solution architect performing enterprise application integration to assure architecture quality and assisted in the designing and developing component architecture, prototyping window designs, developing object model and data model designs, developing and unit testing system software, and training client staff.
