I'm a senior anaesthetic registrar currently working at Derriford hospital (University Hospitals Plymouth) in the South-West of the U.K - a lovely workplace, and a lovely part of the world. I have also trained (completed my M.D in Anaesthesia) from Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal, India – consistently one of the best hospitals and anaesthetic departments in the country; and have a decade of professional experience in the field so far.Working in both countries has helped me gain insight into the workings of two different yet robust healthcare systems, and I feel privileged to work in a specialty which offers a unique combination of knowledge and skills – perioperative management of patient physiology and comorbidities, practical skills essential for patient care under anaesthesia, as well as abundant opportunities for simulation and teaching. I am also excited to be starting my Advanced Pain Training (APT) in Chronic Pain later this year, with the eventual aim of becoming an Anaesthetic and Pain consultant. Anaesthesia highlights:- ST6 registrar at a busy University Hospital and Major Trauma Centre- Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) and Diplomate of the European Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (DESAIC)- Competent in anaesthesia for both elective and emergency surgery across specialties - General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Thoracic surgery, Neurosurgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Plastic surgery, Breast surgery, ENT, OMFS and Ophthalmic surgery.- Experienced in General Anaesthesia, Difficult Airway Management (including FOI), TIVA, Regional Anaesthesia (Chest wall, Abdomen, Upper & Lower Limb), Procedural Sedation and Pain management.- Experienced in inter-hospital transfers (Road and Helicopter) of critical patients. Plan to train myself further in transfer medicine when the opportunity arises.- ALS – RCUK Provider (working towards being an instructor (IP))- ATLS Provider- Other subspecialty interests: Regional (post CCT fellowship in the pipeline), Obstetric, Trauma, Paediatric and Thoracic anaesthesia, Airway management, Simulation and Teaching.
