My vision is to provide leadership to a health care organization that is committed to improving the health of the people it serves with the objective of enhancing value in healthcare.My clinical experience has exposed me to all aspects of the sharp end of health care delivery. I have learned to manage the vulnerable underserved rural population with its unique challenges, worked in a Patient-Centered Medical Home model in a primary care practice, and built-up extensive inpatient experience including as a Hospitalist in a large tertiary care hospital. In addition to this, I have developed disease care management programs (managing disease states like diabetes and heart failure) and enhanced care delivery models (such as with the Diabetes Treatment Center and with the creation of an Observation Unit). As a physician leader and executive, I have partnered with payers to provide high-quality yet cost-effective care and enhanced care processes (such as with ambulatory safety programs and case management programs). In addition to this, I have had the privilege to work as a Baldrige Examiner. The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award is the nation’s highest honor for organizational performance excellence. It is awarded annually by the President of the United States. This program has allowed me to critically examine high-reliability organizations and to better understand customer service, innovation, and performance excellence.
