Runa has been acquired by Staples to help transform the online shopping experience through our data-driven real-time personalization platform. We're delivering several products to the Staples online technology eco-system, inclding real-time price-optimization, personalized flash deals, behavioral email targeting, and a multi-variate testing as a service.

Runa is a SaaS for online merchants, an “AWS for e-commerce companies”, and aims to increase purchase conversions. It does this by leveraging big-data and predictive-modeling to target specific shoppers with personalized offers in real-time. It also optimizes the offers in order to minimize margin erosion. Over time, we added other SaaS services including smart email targeting, smart package delivery estimation, and real-time recommendations.I started out as Chief Architect, and designed the complete system and coded most of it. I also hired the engineering staff, and scaled it to over 40 engineers, spread across two offices (here and in Bangalore, India). I also have product responsibility, shared with one of the co-founders. Together, we design and plan the various product families, their features, and delivery through engineering. Finally, I handle our large customers from an account-managment perspective, and help with sales calls when pitching to senior execs.
