I work with employees and businesses across industries to create pragmatic solutions to solve difficult employment law problems. I work with executives to negotiate (and potentially litigate) their compensation, non-competes, and separation pay. And I help businesses with all aspects of employment law, from hiring to separation. In addition to working directly with clients, I routinely present on legal topics to attorneys and HR professionals seeking to receive continuing education credits, have appeared on podcasts to discuss non-competes and trade secrets, work with executives to develop their negotiation skills, I co-host a podcast on behalf of NELA-IL, "Employee to Lawyer," and I am heavily involved with the ABA's Labor and Employment Section.I was also one of the architects and drafters of the Amendment to the Illinois Freedom to Work Act, which is comprehensive non-compete reform legislation. The new law will improve employee mobility and ban post-employment restrictions for employees who should not have them in the first place, while providing legal clarity for businesses and employees. The Illinois legislature passed the bill unanimously in both chambers in 2021. The Illinois Chamber of Commerce, the AFL-CIO and other union groups, the Attorney General's Office, and NELA-IL all supported the legislation. Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine has recognized me as a Rising Star every year since 2016. In 2019, I completed the Crain's Leadership Training. I completed the Certificate Program in Mediation Skills Training from the Northwestern University School of Professional Studies in 2021. And in 2021, Crain's recognized me in its list of "Notable Rising Stars in the Law."I previously taught an advanced legal writing class at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. The class was focused on appellate legal writing and oral advocacy. Outside of the office, I'm a long distance runner, and have run 9 full marathons and 19 half marathons. I'm also on the Governing Board for Chicago Debates, a non-profit that focuses on cultivating debate programs for middle and high schools in Chicago. Kids that debate are more likely to attend and graduate college. At the 25th Anniversary Gala for Chicago Debates, I was honored as one of the twenty-five most influential individuals for the organizations.
