Pitched and reported on social justice and civil rights issues in the United States with a focus on mass movements and youth organizing within communities of color. My work has appeared on The Nation, NBC, DNAinfo, Jet Magazine, The Root, For Harriet, The Youngist, The Amsterdam News and other outlets.

Managed the flow of editorial content between the web and print products of the Amsterdam News. Assigned, edited and posted all breaking news coverage and social media posting for the newspaper. In 2010 and 2013 I oversaw a two phase redesign of amsterdamnews.com and its supporting CMS system. Trained staff on new content management systems and social media engagement tools.

Developed, found funding for and implemented a three-semester, paid internship program which provided support for each department of the newspaper and provided students with a hands on work experience at one of the oldest Black newspapers in the country. Hired, trained, and supervised 22 editorial, business and advertising interns per year.

I edited the feature section of Syracuse University’s daily, independent, student run newspaper; brainstormed story ideas, managed 30 feature writers, reported on-deadline stories and oversaw the layout of 4-6 page section.
