NHA is supported by approximately 200 national, state, and local member organizations including scholarly and professional associations; higher education associations; organizations of museums, libraries, historical societies and state humanities councils; university-based and independent humanities research centers; and colleges and universities. It is the only organization that brings together the US humanities community as a whole.As a Research Policy Assistant, I collaborated with Members of Congress and leading policymakers to craft the NHA’s advocacy platform and composed policy updates, budget reports, and other relevant content for bi-monthly email newsletters, press releases, and state-specific constituent reports and action alerts to ensure its visibility on Capitol Hill. I also supported the planning and execution of two Humanities Advocacy Days that brought over 400 members and participants to Washington, DC, for advocacy training and meetings with their Members of Congress.
