Outputs will include at least 3 demonstration sites, an education and outreach program including at least 3 community events, and a report on findings from management experiments. $8,775 from the Lake Champlain Basin Program 2021 Education and Outreach Grant for "Nanaw8badam: Stewardship in Partnership," which will build a partnership with the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi and enhance our collaborative stewardship of the Missisquoi River Basin. We will strengthen the relationship between our community and our waterways by naming and adopting streams, planting culturally-important native species and hosting community events and celebrations.Responsibilities for UMATR:Create maps and other resources to encourage recreation and protection along the Upper Missisquoi and Trout RiversPlan and host events such as community paddles, river cleanups, Wild & Scenic Snowshoe, Wild & Scenic Solstice, and the Wild & Scenic Film Festival

I taught Physical Science and Earth & Space Science to 9th & 10th grade students at Taopi Cikala Owayawa (Little Wound School).I developed curricula for both courses aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) that also incorporate traditional Lakota scientific knowledge, including astronomy, geology and ecology. I collaborated with Project Venture (National Indian Youth Leadership Project) to develop students’ leadership skills and wilderness skills through hands-on, culturally relevant activities and outdoor education.I mentored dual-credit students in Biology 101 through Black Hills State University and taught the Biology 101 labs.MISSIONTaopi Cikala Owayawa will provide a sacred environment for students to achieve academic and Lakota language and cultural excellence.ABOUT OUR SCHOOLLittle Wound was one of the Oglala chiefs who believed education was the answer for a better future for the Lakota people. His belief led others to bring that vision to reality. The school was named in memory of Chief Little Wound and his son, George Little Wound.The student population is approximately 900 students who are predominantly Oglala Lakota. A majority of the 400 high school students are bussed to Little Wound School from several communities on the reservation, which constitutes an attendance area with a 50-mile radius.

I often collaborated with the City Manager's Office, the City Attorney's Office, the Sustainability Team and Public Works, especially in bike planning and grant writing.

I managed projects and convened regional stakeholders to improve resilience and climate action in the Pittsburgh region.Chronic stresses such as poor air quality, lack of access to fresh food and transportation, and aging physical infrastructure challenge the daily quality of life of Pittsburgh residents and make disadvantaged communities more vulnerable to acute shocks such as severe weather and temperature, flooding and economic disruption. Pittsburgh seeks to build resilience by meeting the basic needs of all residents in both normal and emergency scenarios, by ensuring access to education and opportunity, by reinvesting in our built and natural infrastructure, and by comprehensively managing land use to support affordable housing, hazard mitigation, and other strategic goals.I convened the Pittsburgh Climate Initiative and drafted the third version of the Climate Action Plan.Other projects:Develop a plan to convert the City of Pittsburgh fleet to electric vehicles and non-fossil fuel alternativesDevelop a Zero Waste strategy for municipal collection of solid wasteDevelop policies and resources to steward Pittsburgh's Greenways
