𝘓𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘶𝘱𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥: 𝘔𝘢𝘺 2022I am a strongly dedicated student in my senior year of Translational and Molecular Medicine, currently conducting my Honor’s Thesis project in the laboratory of Dr. Lisheng Wang at the University of Ottawa. My research focuses on investigating new therapies for Triple-Negative Breast cancer. Specifically, the goal of my research is to discover chemical compounds that can effectively target cancer stem cells, boost anti-tumor immunity, and inhibit metastasis.I have been involved in molecular biology research since the first year of my undergraduate studies. I have worked in 3 different laboratories (9 research projects) at the Faculty of Medicine, and have assisted in the recent launching of the Genome Editing and Molecular Biology core facility at the Faculty. As of the moment, I have accumulated over 2000 hours of research experience.My academic goal is to become a physician-scientist. I aspire for a career in which I can contribute to increasing our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying drug resistance in cancer, as well as directly contribute to patients' care at one the most difficult stages of their lives.Aside from academics, I have been strongly involved in community service since high school. Specifically, I have strong experience serving underprivileged populations and patients, as well as working with children and youth in the arrays of sports, education, and mentorship. I am also passionate about local civic engagement and regularly participate in grassroots organizations and in the Senate. Finally, I have demonstrated outstanding leadership work, with multiple award-winning accomplishments, in my high school student council and in the largest student-run club on my university campus.Looking forward to connecting with you!
