Hi, I’m Ammu (she/her), currently a third year Accounting and Finance student in TU Dublin.Why Accounting?When I was in first year secondary school doing business for the first time ever, my then business teacher talked about how she used to be an accountant. She’d talk to us about the work she did and how it was to be an accountant. And I remember whispering to my friend that I’d never choose accounting as a job. Guess life likes being ironic because six years later, somewhere along the way I developed a liking for accounting, and I ended up on the road to a profession I said I wouldn’t do. I liked working my way through excel and looking up videos on how to make it easier for me. Loved the feeling of a balance sheet balancing. Just overall enjoyed thinking of life as an accountant.Until GraduationI plan to improve on my skills that would be needed, i.e., Microsoft Office, accounting softwares, etc.I also plan to specialize in forensic accounting or auditing. Some things I loveReading and writing as a way to unwind help a lot. Swimming always helped me de-stress. Whenever I feel creative, I take out my keyboard and go over what I remember. I’m always looking for new things to try and add to my knowledge and one hobby I took up about a year ago that interested me was learning to code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
