- Mentored by Dr. Micheal McDowell, a Neurosurgeon at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, to develop a novel suction and irrigation instrument for nasal endoscopes in order to improve OR efficiency during skull and sinus based surgeries.- Mentored by Dr. Trent Emerick, an Anesthesiologist at Falk Clinic, to develop a foldable epidural lead for Spinal Cord Stimulation surgeries to reduce the incision size and risk of infection.

Mentored by Dr. Brendan McNeish, a physiatrist specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation at UPMC, to optimize the design of a novel research device that measures simple reaction time and reaction accuracy for assessing neurological executive function in stroke patients.

- Worked in the Xu lab to develop an algorithm that models neuroplasticty during early development. The purpose of this endeavor is to study 1) how experience induces long-lasting changes in synaptic transmission, 2) the molecular mechanisms of neural plasticity essential for information processing and storage in the brain, and 3) neurological dysfunction in disease such as autism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and mental retardation.Mentored by Dr. Weifeng Xu to create MATLAB code that simulates silent synapse maturation in the primary visual cortex of mice from day 0 to day 50 post-birth, entailing precise parameter optimization and model alignment with empirical data.-Explored critical periods in postnatal neural development and the impact of silent synapse maturation on neural circuit reorganization using MATLAB-based modeling.
