Cashier & Scanning Associate
CurrentPrimary cashiering duties include running a cash register, recalling numerous product and other codes, bagging groceries, assisting customers (by answering questions, directing them to products, getting them through the checkouts in a timely fashion, etc.), being cooperative with all supervisors' requests, and maintaining a clean work space. Supplemental duties include straightening shelves, returning merchandise, cleaning restrooms and other areas, taking customers' purchases to their vehicles, overseeing the front end in the absence of the manager, and making decisions of how to best serve customers and solve problems (especially under pressure and sometimes by "going the extra mile" in order to ensure superior service).As of mid-2011, a secondary job position in the scanning department was added. Primary scanning duties include setting and taking down weekly ad prices and signage, verifying price and sign accuracy, assisting the scanning coordinator as needed, creating and printing appropriate signage and labels, cross-checking daily batch reports, applying various price changes, and researching or troubleshooting problems that may arise. This position requires frequent usage of a computer and handheld scanning device.
