Since January 2019, I have served as the Site Manager and Site Senior Executive of Incitec Pivot's Mount Isa Sulphuric Acid Plant, operating under Queensland Mining regulations. I am responsible for all business outcomes, ensuring that the budgeted targets for sulphuric acid production are met. Overseeing a P&L with an annual budget exceeding $40M, my leadership has resulted in the following achievements:Achieved a Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) of 0 for two years, with no Medical Treatment Injuries (MTIs) or Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) during this period. In 2016, I transitioned to the role of Reliability and Improvement Manager at Incitec Pivot’s North Australian Operations, overseeing both Phosphate Hill and Mount Isa sites. Leading a team of 30 engineers and technical officers across Chemical, Mechanical, and EIC disciplines, I was responsible for managing asset integrity and performance.My key responsibilities included enhancing team performance through coaching and leadership, and developing business cases for aging equipment in a financially challenging environment. I guided the design of mechanical strategies for the Mount Isa site using ITUS tools and supported teams during the 2018 major turnaround and subsequent startup. Additionally, I served as Acting Site Manager and Site Senior Executive at Phosphate Hill for three months before being appointed to lead the Mount Isa operations in 2019. Under my leadership, the Phosphate hill site achieved its best performance for safety and production for the financial year.

Leading a highly skilled team of technical officers and engineers, I was responsible for managing asset integrity and performance for the $1 billion Ammonia-Nitric Acid-Ammonium Nitrate plant at Moranbah in Central Queensland.I was appointed as the first Maintenance and Reliability Manager at Dyno Nobel’s new Ammonium Nitrate plant in Moranbah, Queensland, during the final stages of construction. While my initial role focused on setting strategies and selecting maintenance programs, I became deeply involved in the plant’s commissioning. The first year was particularly challenging due to equipment failures stemming from design and installation issues or unexpected process changes. I took a hands-on approach, motivating my team and addressing technical challenges, which eventually led to steady plant operation. I also managed a major repair event due to a dome collapse in the ammonia plant, receiving accolades for completing the repairs economically and safely.As the Reliability and Improvement Manager, I built a professional team through coaching and collaboration. I implemented risk management and change management processes, leading to improved plant reliability. I also spearheaded Project ITUS, designing maintenance strategies for all plant assets. This high-profile project utilized a software I designed to achieve cost-effective reliability. Additionally, I developed the scope for a major turnaround, crucial for maintaining plant reliability.

In August 2005, I began my role as a Mechanical Reliability Engineer with Queensland Nitrates (QNP) at their major hazard facility in Moura, Queensland. My career progressed rapidly due to my attention to detail, leadership abilities, and effective management of projects and shutdowns. By 2007, I had earned a Master’s degree in Maintenance and Reliability Engineering from Monash University, completing a significant project on maintenance strategies for all rotating equipment at QNP.As Reliability Manager, my responsibilities spanned maintenance, reliability, projects, and turnarounds. I led numerous projects to enhance maintenance strategies and systems and improved process safety standards. A notable achievement was managing a project to repair the ammonia tank foundation with an innovative design after the original failed. This project, along with my paper on the repair method, was presented at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChe) Global Safety Symposium in San Francisco. Additionally, my team received a Maintenance Excellence Award from the SIRF Roundtables for our efforts.I also led the end-to-end project for a new $12.7 million nitric acid converter and managed a $15 million major turnaround in 2011. All projects were completed successfully, adhering to management of change processes, and ensuring no Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) through well-prepared safety management plans and a motivated workforce.Key achievements:Managed the $12.7 million Nitric Acid Reactor project.Led the $15 million major turnaround at QNP in 2011.Executed a $4 million innovative repair of the ammonia tank foundation.Oversaw a maintenance team of 20 with an annual budget of $4 million.My six and a half years at Queensland Nitrates provided a robust foundation, preparing me for larger challenges in my subsequent role with Incitec Pivot starting in 2012.

As a Marine Engineer Officer in the Merchant Navy, I began my career as a trainee engineer and advanced through various ranks—Fourth Engineer, Third Engineer, Second Engineer, and ultimately Chief Engineer—by completing required sea time and passing examinations.From 2000 to 2004, I served as the Chief Engineer on ‘Aframax’ crude oil tankers. In this role, I managed the safe and efficient operation of propulsion, power generation, and cargo handling equipment on these vessels. My career at sea involved traveling worldwide and working with hazardous cargo, which deepened my understanding of process safety.After completing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, I took on a hands-on role in the Merchant Navy, working with prestigious Norwegian companies. I was selected by Singapore-based Tanker Pacific due to my ability to foster a culture of pollution prevention and personal safety.One of my notable achievements was overseeing the commissioning of a brand-new oil tanker, MT Ceram Sea, from Hyundai Shipyard. I was instrumental in implementing maintenance strategies, training personnel, and ensuring compliance with port state and oil major inspections.
