I am a researcher who is passionate about the disruptive technology of autonomous driving. My Ph.D. is in the area of autonomous driving. After an extensive literature review, I found that one of the biggest challenges in the adoption of this technology is the safety perceived and associated with this disruptive technology. In my Ph.D., I am precisely scrutinizing the risks and trade-offs involved in the deployment of self-driving cars from a traffic engineering standpoint view. I have done an exploratory investigation of accident and disengagement database of autonomous vehicles open-sourced by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, developed crash severity models and, identified the potential issues with the reporting protocols. Due to the more comprehensive data reported by Waymo compared to other manufacturers, I have examined Waymo's database and approach exclusively. Further, I have employed surrogate safety measures (SSM) to investigate network-level safety, embodying both accident frequency and severity. Currently, I am developing an algorithm to develop driver model for Autonomous vehicles. I have an overarching knowledge of the development of Autonomous vehicles including computer vision, deep learning, sensor fusion, localization, path planning, control, and system integration. I am looking for any potential collaboration or internships in this area.
