As the inaugural director for AMALI, I guided the initiative's design, beginning with mapping the ecosystem of city support work in Africa, identifying a niche for a new city leadership support program, and engaging potential host partners. We formally partnered with the African Centre for Cities in December 2021 and successfully launched AMALI on the 23rd of January, 2023, at the University of Cape Town with an inaugural cohort of 15 mayors from 8 African countries.
