As a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with sub-specialty training in Arthroscopic Surgery, I take a highly personal approach to caring for my patients. I believe the most important aspect of providing quality care is establishing a good relationship with my patients and involving them in the treatment plan. I like to provide education about your current injury, both surgical and non-surgical treatment options, and also how to prevent future injuries. For me, each patient who walks through the door is treated like family.I am originally from Illinois and received both my Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. I completed Medical School and Residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. I have experience in caring for athletes at the high school, college and professional levels including the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins and New England Revolution.Specialties: Sports medicine, arthroscopy, reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder, cartilage restoration, shoulder stabilization, rotator cuff surgery, knee ligament reconstruction

I have been very active in research and have published on a variety topics such as knee ligament reconstruction and rotator cuff surgery in both orthopedic journals and text books.A Success Story:I worked with Maria after it was suggested she see a specialist when she injured her right knee. I was able to diagnose and assist with a resolution immediately. With her determination to get better, we were able to recover her from the injury without surgery. Unfortunately, several months later, Maria’s left knee popped while jogging and she could not walk. After returning to me for an evaluation, I found that she had completely torn her ACL. Maria was very anxious, emotional and uncertain as to how she would like to proceed. She had not had surgery in the past and was not familiar with what would be required with this recovery process. I was able to reassure her and inform her of her options, and what surgery would mean for her. We took a conservative approach initially and after some physical therapy determined that she would need to have her ACL reconstructed. I explained to her all of her options and allowed her to make the decision as to how to proceed. After she decided on reconstructive surgery, we were able to get her back to full function after only a few months and back to running. Maria stated, “Dr. Ferry was readily available, promptly responded to my inquiries and concerns before and after surgery, meticulous in his skills to insure minimal scars, genuinely concerned and supportive at all times.” Show less
