Worked in National Engineering Services Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd in Lahore, Pakistan from October, 2012 to August, 2015 as General Manager / Head (Power Plants & Mech.); worked from July 2010 to October, 2012 as General Manager Power Plants (Elect./I&C) / Project Mgr; and from December, 2009 to June, 2010 as Chief Engineer Power Plants (Elect,/I&C) / Project Mgr. Worked in DESCON Engineering Limited (DEL) in Lahore Pakistan from August, 2008 to December 2009 as Senior Manager / Incharge (Elect/ I&C), EPC Business Area. I was mainly responsible for I&C and some specialized electrical works for the on-going 225 MW Bhikki Combined cycle Power Project executed by DEL on EPC basis; and for electrical and I&C works including base engineering, design review, preparation of EPC proposals, requests for quotations, cost estimation and bid evaluation of different power plant and industrial projects.

As Chief Engineer Power Plants (and as Principal Engineer / Project Manager prior to promotion), I was mainly responsible for electrical and I&C works including preparation of design, feasibility studies, technical specifications, front-end engineering design, proposals for engineering services, cost estimation and bid evaluation reports of hydropower, steam & combined cycle/ co-generation power plant projects. Worked in Saudi Electricity Company, Eastern Region Branch (SEC-ERB, before SCECO-East) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as Senior Electrical Engineer . I was responsible for all electrical works (including interfacing with Plant DCIS) pertaining to 4 x 600MW Steam- Turbine Units & other plant auxiliaries of Ghazlan II Power Plant Project. Work included detailed design review of plant Electrical & Control systems and associated 380KV GIS Substation, Coordination within the Company’s Specialist Departments and with the Contractors & Consultants, Witnessing of factory & site acceptance tests, bid evaluation/ technical ranking of equipment suppliers, negotiations with the Contractor on technical & commercial issues. As in charge of Electrical Commissioning Team (Consisting of 30 Engineers & Technicians), attendance, witnessing & verification of commissioning tasks. I also assisted the Project Manager in resolving complex technical, contractual and commercial issues.

Assigned to Chashma Group of Consultants; worked in association with Compagnie Nationale Du Rhone (CNR) of France on 8 x 23 MW Low Head Bulb Turbine Units of Chashma Hydropower Project.Specific tasks included: Conceptual design of control, monitoring & protection systems including equipment ratings, single line diagrams, panel layouts, control & protection schemes and related calculations etc. Conducting studies and developing design memorandums forming basis for revising the technical specifications of the project. Detailed design review of generator, governor, excitation system and MV/LV Switchgears including related control, protection & metering systems.

Worked in association with Chas T. Main of USA on 4 x 432 MW Tarbela Hydropower Third Extension Project, Units 11-14. Specific tasks included: Detailed design review of conventional hardwired & microprocessor based control, monitoring & protection systems. Evaluation of manufacturer’s specifications, characteristics & drawings of generators, digital turbine governors, static excitation systems & computer based plant monitoring systems etc. Modifications in the control systems from various manufacturers to ensure perfect interface between them. 4 Development of detailed inter-connection diagrams. Estimation of Cable quantity & sizing for power plant. Supervision of testing & commissioning of plant equipment by various manufacturers/ contractors and conducting/participating in the overall system testing, commissioning, startup and initial operation of the Power Plant Units. Trouble shooting of faults during commissioning, as well as, during commercial operation of the power plant units. Participated in the development of the conceptual design & technical specifications, bid evaluation/ technical & financial rankings of the responsive bidders, pre and post contract award negotiations, detailed design review, factory & site acceptance tests and commissioning of In-plant SCADA system for Tarbela Units 1-14.

Worked in association with Gibbs & Hill Inc. of USA on 450 MW Combined Cycle Power Project. My specific responsibilities included:1 Design review including processing of controls & protection schematics and logic diagrams.2 Supervision of installation, calibration and testing of pneumatic & electronic instruments, control valves and microprocessor based control systems/DCIS for four heat recovery boilers, two 100 MW each steam turbo-generators, steam absorption type chillers, HVAC systems & other auxiliary plant systems.

Worked in association with Gibbs & Hill Inc. of USA on 450 MW Combined Cycle Project Power. My specific responsibilities included:1 Supervision of installation, testing, calibration, loop checking & commissioning of pneumatic & electronic instruments & control & protection systems of 4 x 100 MW frame 9 GE GT Units.2 Witnessing of various start-up and commissioning tests.3 Supervision of installation, testing, calibration, loop checking & commissioning of pneumatic & electronic instruments and micro-computer based control systems of Gas Mixing Station, Gas Reducing stations and Gas Dehydrator plant.During the period from December, 1984 to July, 1985, I worked in the System Studies Section of NESPAK Power Division at Lahore soon after joining the Company. Work included providing assistance to system studies engineers, preparation of technical specifications for the automatization of Rasul Barrage regulator gates and preparation of tender documents of Bin Qasim Thermal Power expansion project.
