Primary duties include conducting evaluations of competency to stand trial and an offender’s responsibility for their behavior at the time of the offense. I prepare reports which detail evaluation findings for the court and provide expert witness testimony. I also conduct pre-release reviews on inmates to determine if they suffer from a mental disease or defect that would present a danger to persons or the property of others upon release.

My primary duties included providing psychological consultation for patients in acute psychiatric crisis. This involved evaluating patients and consulting with collateral informants to determine issues of imminent self-harm or harm to others.I also evaluated inmates that manifested sudden bizarre behavior or thoughts, insomnia, psychosomatic complaints, suicidal preoccupations, depression, anxiety, situational crises, and experienced long-term disciplinary segregation. I worked with correctional staff to implement the most appropriate disposition for each case, which included: developing behavioral plans, initiating suicide watch, making psychiatric referrals, and providing psychological follow-up care on an as-needed basis.
