I am a final year student at Lancaster University studying for a degree in BSc Business Economics (Industry year). As part of my degree, I completed a Placement Year with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. This was a great opportunity but also took me out of my comfort zone as I moved to the other side of the country. My role was Management Trainee which allowed me to get involved with all aspects of the business. This ranged from customer service, sales, marketing, debt and much more. Whilst on my placement year, my branch also converted to an out of hours branch, which needed me to be responsive to change and the processes. Alongside my team, I also helped in securing a 6 month 90+ customer service score, which I am incredibly proud of. During my Placement Year, I wanted to stay involved with the University and LUMS. I decided to take on the role of Head of Events for the Economics Society. This allowed me to build on my communication, multitasking, organisation and leadership skills. I managed events such as our annual charity ball, career workshops, welfare events and more. I felt getting involved whilst I was away on my Placement Year also allowed for a smoother transition back to university for my final year. Coming back to university, I knew I wanted to stay involved with the society and push myself further. I was successful in securing the role of President of the Economics Society. Whilst this has been a challenging role, I believe I have benefited hugely from it, and have managed to balance it along side my studies.Combining my part time work prior to university and everything I have achieved whilst being here, I have surpassed my expectations of myself and I am extremely proud of myself. I have furthered my skill set, networked and made incredible connections.
