I am very accustomed to flying in an extremely fast paced environment as I’ve been flying out of the busiest heliport on the East Coast since February. Our helipads are surrounded by wires, and I am almost always flying close to max gross weight, so I’m used to keeping my head on a swivel and remaining vigilant when it comes to my surroundings and safety. We also fly within a Class C airspace, so I’m accustomed to communicating with ATC on a regular basis. Flying tours in a busy airspace has boosted my capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, as I’m communicating with ATC, our other aircraft, and my passengers all while safely operating my aircraft.

As the head guide at Winterlake Lodge, a backcountry lodge in a remote part of Alaska, I was extremely focused on customer service. I would guide high paying guests through their entire stay including the planning and execution of all the helicopter accessed activities we offer. In a small lodge setting, I was also happy to chip in with other departments to help keep the lodge running! Besides guiding guests in outdoor settings, duties included housekeeping, lodge maintenance, and sled dog handling.

As a member of a small marketing team, I’ve worn many hats: graphic designer, video editor, social media guru, web designer, to name a few. I’ve worked closely with the company GM, owner, and director of marketing, and IT geniuses to develop and launch new pass and lift ticket products. As a small resort, we were allowed an incredible amount of flexibility to change our products and offer an innovative menu of options that differs largely from competitors.Company owner gave us out of the box, often complicated product ideas that we amended and refined. From this, we distilled the crucial information from the complicated big picture to train salespeople and market directly to customers.

I refer to this job as extreme customer service. Catering to needy, scared, confused guests in a high-pressure outdoor recreation setting. I worked trips on the South and Middle forks of the American River, Merced River, North Fork Stanislaus River, class 3 and 4, 1-2 day trips.

I worked closely with company owner to maintain relationships with local and drive market media. I created strategies and content for the social media profiles of many clients. In addition, I updated the website and created fliers, brochures, and other collateral for clients.

As a costume shop assistant, my responsibilities were to see to fittings and assist the senior members of the costume shop with their duties and tasks.

Office administration/organization assistance, blog post writing/editing, and on-site assistance during select Wilderness First Responder and swift water rescue classes.
