Amory is an American with nearly 30 years of experience in international media business development. Amory was the founder & chief executive of NASN (the North American Sports Network), the European television network formed in 2002 that was acquired by ESPN in February 2007 for a reported figure of $120m. NASN was backed initially by Paul Allen’s Vulcan Ventures, and later by Benchmark Capital. Setanta Sports was also a founding shareholder.Amory conceived of, developed and managed NASN from its inception, and was responsible for all of NASN’s commercial activities, including distribution and rights acquisition. During his time with NASN, he concluded exclusive multi-year television rights deals with the four major US professional leagues, as well as with NASCAR, NCAA and with ESPN, CBS & Fox. Amory personally concluded long-term distribution deals for NASN with most of the largest regional television distributors, including BSkyB, Canal Satellite France, Premiere Germany, UPC, Sky Italia and many others.At the time of Amory’s departure from the business in 2008, NASN was available in 15+ million households in over 65 countries in Europe and the Middle East. In 2020, while in lockdown, Amory produced a TV show for Channel 4 with clips appearing in the subsequent Gogglebox programme. The programme was a fully restored and colourised version of the 1966 World Cup Final. The programme raised nearly £600,000 for the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus appeal and was a ratings success for C4.
