Executive Director
CurrentThe Anderson Monarchs provide high quality team sports opportunities to over 400 youth ages 5-18 annually. We believe that youth sports in America too often function in a way that reinforces social inequities along class, race, and gender lines. We use our program to challenge those inequities, especially in the sports of baseball and soccer. Our model for changing lives and changing youth sports is simple: We start young, we offer multiple sports, we engage youth year-round, and we work with them through high school and beyond. Change happens over decades, not overnight. We provide a truly accessible youth sports program: where parents don't have to sacrifice financially so their children can play a game; where kids look around and see other players on their team who look like them; where coaches understand and respect where their players come from; where each player is a person first, and an athlete second. We believe it is a healthier, more just model of youth sports. Oh, and we also succeed at a very high rate. Whatever you want to measure - winning on the field; players graduating from high school; kids getting into and out of college; developing college athletes - we do it as well if not better than anyone else out there. As Executive Director my job is to empower the leaders in our community and give them the resources they need to make profound changes in the lives of our young people and their families. Its a great job.
